People in their older years were not grown up with computers and things are not always easy to find.
What's great about it: most things fall into place
What's not so great: Had to look at last years to click some appropriate items

I love Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: Very Easy to use.
What's not so great: Needs better labeling on the outside packaging. I managed to get a packette that did not have the state with it.

Really like the way the program provides guidance through the maze of tax regulations. It guides my thinking in an orderly fashion and leaves me believing I have overlooked nothing and yet covered everything.
What's great about it: Provides complete, in depth coverage of tax regulations and a superb, lead-me-by-the-hand guidance.
What's not so great: Nothing
Pros: I bought or sold investments

TurboTax does not like Win 10

Lots of problems trying to download updates in Win 10. Had to find patch. Still a problem getting state program. Never felt comfortable with results. Finally loaded into Win 7 and ran OK. Only glitch was with local estimated payments. Did not add to total tax paid. Had to manually add to state estimated paid to get into totals.
Have used TurboTax for over 5 years. 2016 was most nasty ever.
Don't like e-mail to confirm who I am. If not on mail program at the time, a extra step.
What's great about it: Works well in Win 7
What's not so great: Will not download updates in Win 10 without patch

Help in fixing state rejection totally worthless.

My Federal got accepted and approved instantly. Your help in fixing the Wisconsin rejection was not understandable and worthless, resulting in multiple rejections. A long term partnership was disposed of in 2015 and overall it was a severely losing investment resulting in losses and loss carry-overs.
What's great about it: Overall it worked good for the Federal.
What's not so great: You don't help for Wisconsin rejection.

Easy and thorough

I've been using TurboTax for many years. Even though I know pretty well what forms are required, I always use the step-by-step method to make sure everything is done properly. Plus, I like being able to go back to any area and revisit the topic as needed. This year there appeared to be incorrect handling of 401k contributions for a sole proprietorship business. Fortunately, I was able to override the TurboTax numbers. Otherwise all went very smoothly through completion of electronic filing. I have not used competing software, so I can't provide a comparative opinion, but I typically recommend TurboTax to my relatives and friends.
What's great about it: Step by step makes sure everything is considered. Internal queries avoid spending time on areas that don't apply.
What's not so great: Didn't handle some 401K contributions correctly.
