TurboTax Works

TurboTax works. It is as simple as that.
What's great about it: Step by step process makes filing easy and intuitive; far less likely to miss or skip key points.
What's not so great: Nothing I don't care for.

Disappearing Data, Who Knew!

I had to complete my entire tax return twice. Why? Turbotax (I loaded onto my Mac from a CD) erased all of my data on the first return after I saved, then printed out the return and before I had a chance to file. This caused me to lose a day while trying to find my missing data. I finally gave up and started over. If this occurrence was an aberration, then it is a sure-fired way to turn-off your customers. Your customer service was polite, but no help at all.
What's great about it: I like the step-by-step question answering approach.
What's not so great: Cannot easily find the source (worksheets) when strange inputs appear in your printout.

Too bad that Turbotax doesn't support my MAC O/S next year. I've been using Turbotax for over 15 years and will now have to find a new product. Can't believe I am being forced to spend money on an O/S upgrade just because Turbotax won't support my current system. Lost another client. Hope you're happy.

Turbo Tax: Deluxe

After back-to-back years of disappointment with Tax Cut I switched to Turbo Tax and have not been disappointed in the ensuing decades.
The pre-file reviews have proved invaluable (though it would be nice if the items that were caught could have been available in the step-by-step walk through.)
Operationally, when a tax form opens up, the font is incredibly small (I have a monitor with a 23-inch diagonal viewing area and had to squint to read some of the text.) It would be helpful to bump-up the font.
When a review flag opens asking that a labelling entry be modified, it would be helpful if that entry was already unlocked, saving the time spent hunting for the "override" command.

What's not so great: The minor errors are usually form-based and not addressed during the step-by-step walk-through. The form font is small

Another great TurboTax experience

We are both retired. California now wants form 3554, even though we are not employers. I accidentally check a box on this form and was unable to un-check it. The state return could not be transmitted until I added another checked box. I hope this doesn't reslt in a rejection from California Franchise Tax Board. Other than that, the TurboTax software is the only way I do my taxes. This has been my choice for several years and I like the current improvements. I would highly recommend this software as the way to go when doing your own income tax return.
What's great about it: As always, Intuit has provided great software. Only one problem (see Cons)
What's not so great: One problem with the California return

The filing fee was much better this year. Overall everything is reasonable. Thanks.
What's great about it: Basically like Turbo Tax overall.
