It would be nice if there was a way to get a preliminary checklist of income and deductions from the prior year to use a guide to obtain the information for the next year.

I have used Deluxe for several years and this year I could not find my capital loss carryover

TurboTax Rocks

I had a lot of paperwork since I retired this year and my husband retired one year ago. It was very easy to report all the income and changes using TurboTax. I am a Tax Professional and believe TurboTax is the way to go!!!!
What's great about it: Walks you through every step
What's not so great: No cons
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Could have been better for private contractors

I've used Turbotax before, but usually I can use the free version. This year I had to buy the Deluxe version just because I received a 1099-MISC form. I graduated college last spring, so I had to do a lot of googling to figure out whether or not my parents could still claim me one last time. Turbotax should have walked me through that a lot better than it did. There was also massive confusion on the 529 income that I used to pay for school. It wanted me to claim school expenses to justify the money I pulled from the 529, but my parents claim my school expenses so that makes no sense. Finally, I had a very hard time figuring out how to file my private contractor work. I do not own a business, but it made me put down a business name and business address. That took a lot of googling to get through too. I am not looking forward to doing this again.
What's great about it: filing W-2s are still easy
What's not so great: Filling a Schedule C for the first time was unpleasant

It is more complicated this year than last year and less customer friendly. The Business Issue has a terrible state return at an excessive cost. Could not make it work and no link for help. Bad experience

I WILL PROBABLELY NEVER USE THIS STINKING SYSTEM AGAIN, I DOUBT THAT EVEN COMPUTER EXPERTS WOULD FIND THIS SYSTEM EASY TO UNDERSTAND OR USE. I CAN
