need easier explanation

Unfortunately we dummies out here want to do our own taxes but still have trouble following some of the situations pertinent to our taxes.
Sales tax and tax rates for states is still confusing. Also if you've made a purchase in another state with a substantial sales tax, I found the rules confusing.

Much better than manual

I have been using TuroTax for many years and wouldn't use anything else. Before TurboTax I did it all by hand and transposed numbers or missed entries. But that does not mean to say that don't need to check the forms. For instance: the data on Roth IRA conversions and IRA distributions is not passed correctly to the NJ section. Federal is correct; NJ is not and has to be manually overridden.
What's great about it: Data is carried forward form previous returns. Data can be downloaded form several financial sites. Math is done.
What's not so great: Have to know what data to get. Have to do some checking as there are bugs

Excellent Tax Software, User Friendly

I have used turbo tax for many years now. I still remember going to the library trying to hunt down tax forms so I can really appreciate having all those forms pop up on my computer in the comfort of my own home. Its so easy to use I wonder why your average person, even a small business owner would not do their own taxes. You still have to get all the information together. Why not input it yourself?
What's great about it: Easy to use. Walks you thru each step.

basic deluxe program - printing leaves a lot to be desired

difficulty downloading into my computer

The help I received from customer service from Arnold was exceptional. he was very patient with me and did his best to get it to install, helping me to get all the updates needed because I hadn't used my computer for 8 weeks. He finally decided our dvd was defective and downloaded a new one right into my computer. So glad I called customer service for help.
What's great about it: It worked like a charm.

long time user...still handles what I can throw at

overall this year was interesting due to a job change TTax seemed to handle all the changes. have been a long time user and still like doing it myself.
What's great about it: seems to handle most situations, good online help, good reference to IRS pubs
What's not so great: constant upselling to premier
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
