Excellent software!

Other than some time to do it right, the program works very well. I took the time and patience to go through it very methodically and it worked out very well. I would recommend this program to every small business owner.
What's great about it: This turbotax takes all the guesswork out of the complex tax filings.
What's not so great: I wish there was more guidance on balancing the balance sheets.

Review of Turbo Tax for trusts

I'm fairly new to doing trust taxes and using form 1041. Your "easy step" for the 1041 is basically useless. It assumes you already know exactly what you are doing. If I knew what I was doing I would not need easy step. The easy step for the 1040 is better.
What's great about it: It prints the forms
What's not so great: Easy step is not helpful at all, other tax guidance not much better.

Great Help for the Weary

The IRS instructions and forms did not make sense and were confusing. The Business software made filing the required documents for a trust a breeze. I only wish I had known this earlier. I am an automatic Deluxe program purchaser, and purchased and downloaded the Home & Business software to file trust documents. As it turned out, I needed the Business software to properly file the taxes for a trust.
What's great about it: Able to walk me through all required documents for a Trust

Did it myself ! Easier than expected!

After paying too much for someone else to do my S corp taxes the last 5 years a bookkeeper friend urged me to do them myself (saying "it's easy.... They walk you through it". He was right!!
I would have appreciated more details as to why some things were or were not filled out on certain forms. This would have been reassuring as a first time user.
However, I am very pleased overall with the program and plan on using them again next year!
What's great about it: Walked me through it - step by step
What's not so great: I felt like I needed more info to reassure me

Filing a State Business Tax Return

After I E-Filed my federal tax forms, Turbo Tax left me hanging with no information about filing the state tax forms. I went back to the beginning of the "File" section and by trial and error I was able to print the state forms for filing. TurboTax included at least one unnecessary form. I still am not sure if I have the right forms for filing with the state.
What's great about it: Easily filled in the state forms from the federal data.
What's not so great: Left me hanging without detailed information on what to file for the state return.
