Handled Trust

I have always liked the fact that TT will lead you through the different topics to complete a return. That is particularly useful when you're not totally familiar with a topic such as a Trust filing. However, if there are issues, understanding the issue and fixing it is very hard. For instance, a Trust requires a "Special Name" Apparently this is just the first four characters. Why does TT send you to help when it could just as easily insert the four characters.
Similarly, If dividends include foreign taxes, then TT displays a form which is NOT even in the PDF version of the return. And there is no explanation of what is needed or why.
What's great about it: Good coaching through individual topics
What's not so great: No explanation of issues and how to fix

Screwed Up Balance Sheet and Reconciliation

Turbo Tax did not seem to be capable of handling retained earnings on an accrual method system. No matter how we tried, newer could get retained earnings to reconcile in Turbo Tax. Everything balances in Quickbooks....
What's great about it: Fast data transfer with QuickBooks, Easy electronic filing
What's not so great: Doesn't handle retained earnings

Not an accountant

This is my first time using TurboTax. Had returns filed by an accountant in the past, who has become too expensive. It was not as easy as I had hoped. Some accounting background would have been helpful for my business return.
What's great about it: data carries over each year
What's not so great: accounting knowledge would be helpful for business returns
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Unhappy with Turbo Tax Business

This review concerns the 2015 Turbo Tax Business Program.
Doesn't have enough instructions or help. Does not carry thru or over to all necessary forms. You need to have some tax education to run this program. Have had to consult a CPA as to where to enter and carry some items. When looking for answers or help it sends you off into personal tax items instead of Business tax filing answers. I would have thought if I was working with Business program it would stay with business answering. NOT! For the price it should work better, but it's more of a data entry and print out. I have used Business for the last 5 yrs, but now may look for a new program for next year or turn it over to a CPA, if Intuit can't upgrade better than this. I realize the IRS changes things every year, but I found the program not doing as much as it did when I first started using it in 2011. Thank goodness I have done some tax work in the pass and my own for years. Also had to go to IRS Publications and instructions to get more help when this program had none.
What's great about it: Input nice layout
What's not so great: NOT user friendly enough
