Excellent Tax Software

Been using Turbo-Tax for S-type corporation tax prep for almost 10-yrs. After once using a local tax prep service...at twice the cost of Turbo-Tax...I've never strayed since...!!
What's great about it: Easy,well explained and simple
What's not so great: A bit pricey for the coporate course

Quick and easy, alerts you to sections under extra scrutiny by the IRS
A little nerve racking since you are doing it yourself i would add the audit protection to have complete peace of mind

Software not well thought out

I've been using this for years for my rental real estate LLC. The program isn't laid out well, questions are ambiguous, and data is not summarize well for error checking. I always have to go to form view and double check everything because I am not sure that the data field that is described is actually the one I think it is. Also, expense for the houses are broken up into areas that aren't obvious. You would think they would improve it but they never do.
What's great about it: It did the job

Turbo Tax for Business good for Fed lousy for stat

I liked the federal edition of Turbo Tax, although I think it is overpriced and to not include the state version is a slap in the face. I only have a small investment club LLC and the only reason I have to use this version is because the home and business version does not cover multiple owner partnerships. My biggest dislike is the state version. I love that it takes all the federal info and puts it straight into the state forms however you can't efile for NJ at least. And it does not give you the composite return option which is necessary for my situation so I still have a lot of work to do after filing. If I find another product that will do the composite return I will shift to that next year.
What's great about it: Easy, thorough
What's not so great: No composite return for state of NJ, cannot efile for NJ

Good but can be better

Nice software for tax new users. But for those need many special tax treatment will find difficult to change and find relevant information.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Hard to enter unusual info
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
