We often have to remove a battery then put it back in to get the Roku Streaming Stick's remote to work. Note that it came with new Duracell batteries. I want a new remote!
There is no reason to purchase a streaming stick, since it requires a cord for power on most TVs. Upper end sets have a powered HDMI, but most (mine included) require a power source, and therefore another wire going to the TV. Pretty much defeats the purpose of the HDMI stick. On my TV, the HDMI slot is behind the screen, so the remote signal has to bounce all over the room before it finds the stick and responds. The streaming stick is easily 10-15 times slower than a standard Roku. I sent mine back. Worthless.
I really enjoy viewing with the Roku device and program. My annoyance is with the need to constantly unplug & replug my TV, then remove and reinsert the batteries on my remote when I attempt to turn on the TV to watch. REALLY annoying.
I am very unhappy with my streaming stick, it is slow and the remote is unresponsive 50% of the time. I end up controlling it with my smart phone app most of the time. My older Roku 2 XL works much better. I am very disappointed in the streaming stick.
