a good buy

We own three roku's. The first one we bought was a roku3. It works absolutely great.
The second worked wonderful also on our 50" flatscreen. When we started to watch a lot of tv with the roku we cut off our satelite. Then we bought the stick last to use on a 32' flatscreen. For some reason it will not work on there so I have had to move the three around to accommodate the tvs. The roku3 will work on the 32' but not the stick.

We enjoy our stick better than the roku 2 that we had. (I gave it to my mother in law and she loves it). We love the roku better than the Amazon Fire stick we have. It is more user friendly.

I bought this over a month ago. A little frustrated with set-up. Finally got it to working.. Tried it last night and it's frozen on main screen and frustrated again. When it is working correctly, it is simple to use. But

It's okay. No way to tell free stuff from "pay"

Roku is the same as the other streaming players, and like all others, it's difficult to tell when a show will be free or pay-per-use. I hate that I have to download an app and get all the way into the show preview before they say "pay $2 to watch" or whatever. Just tell us up front that the shows are pay-per-view.

Remote functionality is frustrating

Once you select your show the Romu seems to work fine but the remote is sometimes unresponsive. They say you should not have to use the reset button on the Roku, but I had to a couple of times just to get the remote to sync up. When using a remote, the second time I hit the direction button (e.g., down or right) to search through the options, the movie options seem to fly by at high-speed. It is very hard to stop and pick your movie or show. Sometimes the quick select buttons on the remote, like Netflix or Amazon, did not seem to work either? Also, when trying to rewind and replay a portion of the movie, I had difficulty getting the remote to work properly. Even the quick little 30 second rewind feature seemed to have issues sometimes?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

So far so good sometimes it locks up but not as bad as my other one. The programming is just right matter of fact 1/2 could be eliminated with no loose to me. Maybe add TLC and DIY in their place.
If you want to save money go this route

I had this in the box forever because I was afraid it would be hard to set up. Was I ever wrong. Plugged it in and away we went. Hello Amazon Prime and Netflix!
