We have had this Roku maybe two months and the remote has already stopped working.

I bought this and in two weeks tookit back. The remote did not sink properly withe the streami g stick after several re setts i became frustrated and returned it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Better than Chromecast

Got the Stick for a birthday gift along with a Netflix subscription gift card. Have had a Chromecast for two years, but barely use it due to lack of Netflix as well as no remote control and more cumbersome up-front software. The Roku is easy to install and the environment it creates for each user, with a desktop for each person's shows, is great. In one month it's been used more than the Chromecast has in two years.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Has trouble streaming.

Bought it a month ago, and I have had a lot of trouble keeping it from messing/freezing up. It's a constant pain in the butt. I'm really upset I didn't get Google chrome and still might. Doesn't stream anything but Netflix well, HBO is an utter mess, and the stick is extremely slow.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I wish I had bought this sooner. I kept putting it off, but it is much easier to stream my shows with this on my TV instead of the computer monitor.

I only wish we could use a universal IR remote, app is great but still requires separate controller than DVR, surround sound & TV!
