I like the Roku products. I own a Roku 2 and a Stream Stick, and both see plenty of use. The Roku 2 is connected via Ethernet cable and sits on the same surface as the TV in my daughters' bedroom. It seldom has any trouble streaming cartoons on YouTube or Netfilx. The remote has to be pointed directly at the unit, but it works well so long as that requirement is satisfied. The Stream Stick was the only viable option for my wall mounted 60" Aquos as I don't want to have a table or stand below it, and getting an Ethernet connection is nearly impossible. I think most of frustrations with the Stream Stick arise from it's location directly behind the set. This position is less than ideal for receiving signals from the remote and wireless access point. I installed a 90 degree HDMI adaptor in hopes of mitigating this issue. Although it seemed to get a better WiFi signal, the remote control worked better without the adaptor. Finally, I settled on an adjustable 180 degree adaptor turned approximately 45 degrees from the back of the set. Performance is on par with the Roku 2 on Netflix or You Tube, but I primarily needed the Stream Stick for it's HBO Go application. I have had no end of trouble with this: frequent to constant buffering, the audio intermittently becomes inaudible, and I've had to re-authorize the device a half dozen times. I've also had some of these problems with the Roku 2 (HBO Go only). I read in a forum that this is typical for Comcast Xinfity subscribers, but I can stream HBO to my laptop, in the same location, without difficulty. Since I bought the Stream Stick for it's HBO Go app, I'd like to see better performance.
We purchased our Roku, thinking we'd use it occasionally. That was until I discovered all of it's features and found the many different selections I had. It is so easy to install and operate. I love using it to watch movies. It allows me to add movies to a watch list. I even put movies into our watch list for my husband who is a WWII buff. I am probably just beginning to find all of the features of Roku, but it's great!
There are times that is freezes up and we have to unplug it from the TV and put it back in, it isn't our internet because all of the other things in the house work fine but other than that small inconvenience it is awesome and I'm so glad I cut the "cable cord"
I purchased the Roku stick about a months ago. It is the easiest of the Rokus to set up and works flawlessly. My Wify router it is about 75 to 80 feet away from this stick and I still get a great connection to my network The video an audio quality are excellent. It sells at a great price. The remote works great without having to point it in the direction of the Roku. Which sits nicely in the back of the TV. I my opinion for its practicality and performance as well as price, this is the best Roku for any TV lover
I am very satisfied with my Roku stick . It allows me to watch many streaming channels for little to no cost such as Netflix, Crackle and YouTube not to mention listening to Pandora.
