I like Roku but the new Roku stick remote is awful. I've had to replace one because it kept disconnecting and they finally sent me a new one, free of charge. It has already stopped working a couple of times. My daughter has the same problem with hers and has gotten to the point of using the Roku remote app on her phone. I love Roku, but the Stick has the remote issues. I would recommend getting the boc style.
The stick popped into an open USB port on the TV and linked up to the wi-fi with no problem. It opened up a large number of channels from various outlets - great! One bit of advice, don't bother with the Roku remote supplied with the stick!! Download the Roku app and use it instead. The app provides much more consistent control than the Roku remote. If you have used the onscreen keyboard you will appreciate the app.
I bought this stick a month ago for my main TV, my router is upstairs about 40 feet away. It has an average performance. I would like to see a boost in its receiving and processing the signal. I have another Roku for upstairs TV (Roku 3) for the bedroom TV and it has been performing excellent the last 2 years! My laptops when they are used downstairs are performing excellent too. So the stick will perform great only on short distances!
l went though a lot of batteries before l realized the remote doesn't connect with the stick. l would take it back to the store if l could but once openned they don't take it back. lt doesn't have a enough space on it to hold netflex so had to go back to the old boxes l had and put the stick on spare tv's l don't use that much, even at that l find myself whiching to watch netflex in the basement. l even spent time on the phone with netflex and they said they get that complaint all the time because their program is to big for it and l bought two of them. Next step is to throw them away because you can't use them. l would not recommend them
