My brother bought this roku as a Christmas gift for me and it's honestly one of my best gifts. It's literally like a tv on a stick, I watch on it every single day. And when I called once concerning a problem they were VERY helpful and nice. Anyone who gets this product will for a fact fall in love!
I love being able to easily watch current shows at an affordable price. The remote and/or internet connection can make viewing a bit tricky. I would adjust the control options, if possible, but I am pleased with it.
Remote can be troublesome to pair. If the remote doesn't work, open a chat session with support and do EXACTLY what they say, in the exact order they tell you to do it. Another thing is it only remembers the last wifi configuration, so when you take it to a friend's house you have to enter the wifi stuff again, even if it was connected before. I'm using it with a bunch of services, so it's amazing. Vudu, Hulu, Amazon, Google, HBO Now, Starz Play, Showtime Anytime, Netflix. Some of those aren't available on the Apple TV, so to have all those features on a thumb drive is amazing. It defaults to 720p so go into settings to change it to 1080p. I keep it in my backpack and use it at friend's houses (I remove the batteries from the remote, or they will drain just sitting there in my backpack). The OS is a tad slow, but I would expect that on a computer the size of my thumb.
does have a lot of features had to understand pswd for everything, slow streaming unles you have modem w/high speed had time warner switch to google fiber wow! blows TWC and ATT away. so highly recommend real high speed internet.
This item is fantastic. Out shines the other competitors. Get one today you will not be disappointed. Best source out there. Have gotten lots of friends to buy Roku Stick, none are disappointed. Better than shelling out big bucks for smart tv.
Compared to the Roku 3 that I have on another TV, the Roku stick is slower in navigating the interface of the streaming device. I don't know if it's the remote control's buttons, or the Roku stick itself that is making it seem slow. BUT, it does work for something that you can just plug into the HDMI port, add a micro USB power to it, and use.
It has the same channels I'm using on my Roku 3, but the remote has a few additional buttons for app shortcuts, which I've accidentally pressed a couple of times. I wish you can reprogram them, but I guess companies paid extra for a reason. The remote also doesn't come with a headphone jack, so there's no private listening.
TL;DR: it's not as polished as the Roku 3, but its simplicity makes up for it.
