I recently cut off my TV with no intentions of turning it back on, so this Roku was something I wanted to test out. Overall, I am pleased with the size and capabilities of the stick. The remote is a bit cheap and flimsy, sometimes the interface is a bit slow - but all of this is forgiven when you realize that it's just a tad bigger than a USB thumb drive so I don't mind it being slow.
My main gripe is with channels. As I said, I do not have a TV package. My ISP is specifically an ISP, they do not provide a Television package. Upwards of 95% of the channels that I have found on Roku require you to have an active Television provider account to sign in (you sign in with your customer account for each respective provider) Basically, you only get access to what you are already paying for. The "truly free" channels are terrible with the exception of YouTube.
As it stands, I only use the stick for Netflix, and more specifically I only use the stick when my PlayStation is updating or downloading a very large game - so it only gets used maybe once or twice a month. I do not feel the Roku is worth it for me, since it requires an active Television provider, I also struggle to see how it is useful at all. I tried to give the Stick to my friend who uses Time Warner Cable, but he was unable to as well since he uses Business Class services and apparently that is not allowed. A free gift was returned to me because it was useless... that's pretty bad...
Small, easy install, just plug it in. Remote already includes batteries. Opens the door to tons of choices. My TV is much better watching movies than my PC. Still trying to figure out how to add some free channels, etc. Fair price, too.
I can't believe how much stuff is packed into this little stick. I find myself watching this more than my cable. And with the build-in Miracast it's a great piece for when those hotels internet is slow you can use your phones' 4G instead to watch your shows or maybe the video you recorded on in while on your trip. Now I don't what I'm gonna do without it.
I bought this a month ago and I am not happy with it at all. It doesn't work well and I believe it is defective I couldn't return it from the place I bought it from because it is too far from where I live
Had a streaming Blu ray player and just made that work although it wasn't great. Then I started getting into more shows and looked into other streaming products but this one is such a great value, easy setup, easy to use, so many channels. Love it. Thanks for making a great product.
