I had trouble with the remote almost from the moment I took it out of the packaging. After about 3 minutes, the remote lost its link with the Roku stick. I followed the trouble shooting guide to reconnect it, which worked, but it lost the link again a few minutes later. Despiteven trying several different recommended approaches, this pattern continued. So my Roku stick will be going back to the store the next time I go. Too many other similar products out there to put up with the aggravation.
i bought this stick and had software issues with it after barely using it, since the latest update things have improved but i dealt with far too many months of irritation for no real reason. My roku 1 wasn't even problematic in comparison and i bought it first and used it more. Maybe there was a defect. It's not completely horrible, that aside i still like it. I hate the useless quick buttons though.
Can't get mine to work yet. Have written a letter explaining that my remote and my new streaming stick, which are supposed to pair automatically, do not seem to have paired, and asking what I can do about that. No paired = no work!
Both my wife and myself are retired so we have plenty of time for tv. Great little gadget and allows us to get free and pay channels that we didn't have access to before.
We chose to purchase the Roku Stick instead of the other "table top" versions like the Roku 2 or 3. We probably should have just spent the extra money. The Stick is very easy to set up, not too much more than plug it in and off you go watching shows. However, there is a delay when you first use the Stick each day, as if it's "warming up" and gathering all the data. This initial load takes a couple minutes, but thankfully we do not experience any further delays throughout use. If you are looking for the most cost-effective way to stream, go with the Stick. If you have a few extra bucks, it will be worth the extra cost to go with the Roku 2 or 3.
