can not get this to work anyplace except in my home and constantly need to use the remote app on my cell phone because the remote seems to go through batteries in a matter of a couple weeks
This the second one I have bought. I bought one about a year a go and loved it. So when I got a new TV for the bedroom I bought a Roku streaming stick for it as well.
I bought this primarily to take on the road with me when I travel for work so I can stream my shows on hotel big-screens w/o having to hookup my laptop to it. It's small enough to fit in my carry-on and the connection features to the hotel wiFi is really quite nice...though it can take a few attempts to get right (I blame this on the hotel connection methods than on the Roku though). I do think they need to throttle down the buffering requests though when connected to hotel wiFi, which isn't always the best. I would rather it show a lower-res picture to accommodate the limited bandwidth, rather than sit there and "load" in an attempt to provide the best picture quality.
Compared to my Roku3, this unit is a bit slower to respond to remote requests, which can be a little frustrating at times (Did I push Select, or is it just lagging?). That said though, it's interface is exactly the same as the STB, so there is no learning curve involved once it is up and running.
Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone who wants their Roku to go with them. If you don't really plan on taking it anywhere, I'd go for a faster more responsive set top model.
