I bought this to replace my cable box and as inexpensive way to start streaming to my TV. I hasn't disappointed. The one thing it lacks is the ability to adjust the volume and turn on the TV.
I was considering running a cable line from my living room to my bedroom. I live in a 1BR apartment so it wouldn't be too long. But my friend told me about the Roku stick. I immediately went out and bought one and fell in love with it instantly! I had no idea it had so many apps on it.
bought it about a month ago, the only complaint I have is that, sometimes when watching something, its keeps says retrieving, and it stops the show and says that a few times when watching
The set up took longer than expected it seems like the stick has a lag when connecting to the tv. Using the remote is a hassle it only works half the time and even then you have the hit select multiple times before it does any thing. I have an Amazon stick and a google chrome cast on my other TVs and they work so much better than the roku. I know people that have the roku box instead of just the stick and it seems to work better than what I have. You get what you pay for I guess.
This is the future of television: choose your apps and pay for only those vs an endless list of channels you do not need. What Roku needs to work to add in a 'tv guide' of sorts that lets you see what is on all of your channels Live at any given time vs having to go through each app individually. Also, the ability to log into your account (i.e. Directv, Dish) centrally and having that activate all channels vs individual codes would be nice. Overall very impressed.
