I really love the Roku Streaming Stick! It is absolutely wonderful. I watch television using the Time Warner App. I also use NETFLIX, Hulu, PBS, FXNOW, among others. Then I discovered The Pottershouse app with Bishop T.D. Jakes. So all my secular as well as spiritual needs are met. My stick did freeze one time, but I do believe I left my TV on overnight; and I have my Stick connected to the TV's USB port. My fault. I plan on buying one for my daughter.
We have used the Roku 2XS for about 3 years and needed to buy another Roku for a tv in the basement by our treadmill. We didn't need all the features of the newest models, just to SonLife Broadcasting Network (SBN). We were skeptical that something so small and inexpensive could work so well. We were pleasantly surprised that the Roku Stick worked as well as our old XS model, and really it works better! I don't know if the Roku gets weaker as it ages, but we are very pleased with the Stick version, and will replace our older model XS (we have 3 of them) when we are able. They suit our purpose at a great price. If you don't need all the features of the more expensive models, give this a try!
I've bought 2 of these and enjoy the apps and the device in general but the remotes on both of these sticks broke within the first month. Luckily there is an app through Roku that allows you to use your phone as a remote. The remote should last more than a month. The USB cord on one of these died and I had to replace it. I gave the value rating of 2 stars because I've had to invest in other technology and a better cord to make this work properly.
