This is a great idea. It is a whole lot cheaper than cable or satellite. With Sling TV it gives me almost all the programming I used to watch on DirecTv for only $20 a month. If only it worked like it is supposed to. Every time I turn on my TV I have to restart the Roku because of the purple screen. Even though I have excellent internet service, it buffers a lot and sometimes it cuts me off in the middle of shows. Also, it offers me programming (HBO, NFL, etc) that I can only get if I have a cable or satellite connection. Hello!! I got the Roku to get rid of satellite!
We are cable cutters and have a Smart TV, a few Chromecast's and one Roku 3 in addition to this Roku Stick. The stick is ultra convenient to mount behind a wall mounted TV, but is quite slow when compared to the Roku3. If I had it to do over again, I'd buy another Roku3.
I purchased the stick about a month ago and love the ease of set up and the size of the stick. I do not watch much channel TV so I got rid of my cable and brought to Roku stick which saves me over $100 a month on cable bills.
I like the stick because it's really small, but since my TV doesn't have powered HDMI/USB plugs, I had to use the external power cable. And the stick isn't as fast as my older ROKU.
