I got the roku stick about a month ago so I could transfer it between two rooms. It's very easy! I wish it would get power from the tv so I wouldn't have to plu and unplug into the outlet but overall we love it!
I purchased the streaming stick as an alternative to the slow, blocky service built into my Panasonic blu-Ray player (and to complement my Apple TV). Getting the stick paired to the remote was frustrating and, once I thought it was paired, then it wasn't. I tried all of the "fixes" but none were permanent. My solution? I downloaded the app. It works much better and is reliable. Still working my way through all of the channels, but so far so good. Forget the remote!
I bought this to replace the extra decoder box from Time Warner on my small set in the kitchen. Not only do I not pay for the box, but now I can get all my channels! The only reason for knocking one star off is that the configuration on the back of my set didn't allow it to plug in directly. I had to buy an elbow adapter so had to wait a couple of days to get it set up. But works like a charm now - a little slow warming up maybe. For the price...terrific.
I have two Roku devices (2 & 3). I wanted one for traveling. Upon receiving the Roku Streaming Stick I found that it was as easy to setup as the other two devices. . .5 minutes and your streaming. You might want to take along an HDMI adapter just in case the hotel/cruise stateroom/whatever TV does not have the connection. . .most do but you never know. Great little device and worth the money. . .'it's like home away from home'.
I cut the cable cord about 6 months ago. We were using our Playstation 3 and Wii to access apps like Hulu and Netflix with varying degrees of success. We got fed up playing the "which device will work" lottery and decided to purchase the Roku. I could not be more pleased with this purchase. The setup took about 5 minutes: 30 seconds to plug it in, and the rest was just setting up the wireless network and logging into my apps. I have used Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, Sling and Spotify thus far and every one has been flawless. My only "complaint" is that the Youtube app doesn't seem to sync with my usage on my phone but that really isn't Roku's fault. Can't recommend this device enough!!
