The streaming stick works very well and was easy to set up and install. The only negative is that it takes a long time for channels to load. I waited almost a full minute for Netflix to load. Other than that, I love it.
This is my fourth Roku product purchase. The first 3 are fantastic. This particular unit is a complete miss for me. It: - keeps on incessantly rebooting - takes up to 45 seconds to load a menu screen such as Netflix - will take up to 10 seconds to respond to remote control inputs - doesn't do well on wifi signal if not really close to router (where the other units do fine) A real disappointment. I have given the ratings below objectively as they don't address the fact that the unit doesn't work ( eg. Even if doesn't work it was very easy to set up)
Grew tired of inconsistent performance of my smart Samsung. As a owner of the first stick that required an MHL connection this is a great change if you own a display without one or a receiver that has one in the front - a normal location.
I have multiple Apple TVs and they serve a purpose, nice thing about Roku is all the channels. Need for USB port should not be a big deal, nearly every TV made over the past 5 years or so has one plus you can always just use the electric plug option. Set up was easy and for the first time have access to Vudu, Amazon, Netflix, Showtime, HBO Go and others using one device. I also have a Chromecast and it's back in the box after buying this - it was not OS friendly and why stream from one device to another when you can just use the stick. You also get access to Vudu and other HD streams with the stick - not possible with Chromecast nor is Amazon for Prime customers like me.
Picture quality is excellent, dual band a plus and no issues connecting to my Apple routers. Highly recommend and a great price to boot.
OK all you kids out there, I’m 60 years old and recently ordered a Roku Streaming Stick after reading an article about it in a Fortune Magazine at my doctor’s office. I watch a lot on Netflix using my Sony Blu-ray player, which has a very limited number of channel selections. Once I received my new Roku It took me about 10 minutes to get it up and running. The menu on Roku made me feel like I just left last century behind. I would agree with several others who commented that an extension is needed because the stick is slightly too wide to fit next to other HDMI cables. (Already emailed customer service.) I also went through the angst that many other purchasers have regarding giving Roku a credit card number to activate an account when I had no plans on purchasing any media. But after using my Ruka and seeing all the media for sale I see why Roku wants its users to be only one click away from a purchase decision. I don’t like it but I understand it. Having said all that, I give the Streaming Stick an excellent rating.
It couldn't be any easier. All I had to do was plug it into my HDMI port on my TV monitor. Connecting it to my home wi-fi system was child's play. All it took was 5 minutes to set it up, and . . . wala, Amazon Prime streaming in 1080p HD, with 5.1 surround. I couldn't be more pleased!
I bought this Roku because I dislike the built-in "Smart TV" interface on my Samsung. The problem is that the stick, when powered by my Samsung USB port, turns off when the TV turns off, so I have to wait for the Roku to boot every time I turn on my TV. Plugging the stick into the 120V power adapter would solve this of course, but that defeats the purpose of having the "stick" form factor. Also it is too big to fit where my HDMI are. I would have to get a 90 degree adapter from Monoprice. A good concept but unfortunately its not a fit for my application.
This thing is the cat's meow..it's everything as advertised and more.....Satellite provider gets turned off Monday morning :) . Goodbye Direct TV, hello an extra $100 in my wallet every month !
Only one problem tho....the stick itself is too large to allow use of the adjacent HDMI plugs for my blue-ray player and game console....I need to find something that will extend the Roku stick away from the plug-ins themselves....RIght now I got to do a 'musical chair' routine with the Roku stick and the other HDMI cables....I'll figure something out, I guess.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I've had one Roku in my living room for a while, and i wanted to get another for my bedroom TV hanging on the wall, but without having to worry about another box just laying around. This is a awesome product for those small places. Id say that the Chromecast is a piece of outdated junk compared to the Roku Streaming Stick!
