I upgraded to this Roku from my Roku LT. They worked great BUT they didn't support the new Netflix profiles feature, and I wanted this since my house has 4 Roku LT hooked to all my TVs. Between my kids and my wife...having Netflix profiles was greatly needed! But I couldn't afford 4 Roku 3's which do support Netflix profiles.
The Roku Streaming Stick allowed me to stay in my budget AND have the multiple profile support of the upgraded Netflix....so YES I am VERY happy with it!
If I could give a 4.5 I would, but I will round up. It's a great device. Love it. The content is unbeatable! The only reason for the 4.5 is I happened to get a lemon on first purchase, but Roku replaced it for free. Great customer service. The device is easy to use, but the setup is not as easy as it is supposed to be. Had issues even with the replacement device of the remote not hooking up right away and took a few tries to get it setup. Other than that small drawback, it's wonderful!
This is perfect for me. Very easy to set up. I bought Chromecast before this became available. but Roku streaming stick does more, and you don't have to use your computer or phone to turn it on. I have two paid channels that I use the most. The search on Roku can be slow, because you have to choose each letter, although it will give autocomplete choices. For some channels, like YouTube, it's better to search on your computer, and add to playlist. YouTube will also allow you to connect to your TV. I don't understand how this works, but Roku and YouTube prompt you on how to do it. I haven't found anything on the free channels that interests me, but I have plenty of shows to watch on my paid channels and YouTube.
I've bought two, for both of my tvs. Easy to use. I love this thing! I probably wouldn't even have cable if it wasn't required for HBO, because the ROKU lets you get all kinds of channels and view whatever you want.
I do not have a "smart TV" but do have HDMI ports. I got tired of cable company rate hikes so I bought the stick. It is very nice. I needed help in the first week to make it a bit faster. The CS team was great (I used chat). I am old school, but not too old. This was easier than I thought it would be.
In fairness, I must correct a previous review I submitted based on outstanding responsiveness from Roku. I had problems with the Streaming Stick, and difficulties getting through to customer support. I finally got through and they took care of the problem, much to my satisfaction. After receiving my feedback form from that interaction, I received a personal call from a level 3 supervisor, who was all over it. He explained that the problem was not with Roku, but faulty boards with the JVC TV I bought (there was a small stream of similar complaints, and from addition troubleshooting I had done later, I also concluded that it had to be JVC's fault at that point. ) Even though it was JVC's issue, "Roku wants happy customers using its product" and they took care of everything, replacing the unit with an upgraded version, and giving me all kinds of info/help. I was very impressed.
In fairness then, I must revise my review. They have done everything I could have wanted for customer service. They stand by their customers and took "customer satisfaction" to the next level. This is very impressive.
While I really liked the streaming stick, after @ 6 weeks, it stopped working. It would "unregister" my favorite channels and I had to register the channels I watched several times. I used my stick in the bedroom and would have to go to my pc in another room to register a channel that had previously been registered. Then it just stopped working all together. I also have a Roku 3 in the family room, and it has not had any problems.
