I live in a small apartment that has concrete walls. I am required to have a direct line of sight for my roku to connect.
The remote seems to be delayed I find myself clicking the button several times to get the command recognized.
Is there an app to allow you to navugate the internet?
I kind of wish I would have bought Chromecast. I borrowed a buddies and in my complex I am having trouble getting the Chromcast recognized because there are so many...
I purchased this from Wal-Mart in May 2014. I recently had to reset device to factory settings because Netflix would not have sound. Since I have reset it, the sound has been great. For some reason, the batteries drain quickly out of the remote.
This is a nice concept: the Stick can plug into an HDMI port, and (if you are lucky) you can power it from a TV USB port. And we like it because it has Amazon Prime (which our Tivo does not.....). Unfortunately, the device has weak WiFi reception: at 2 of our TVs it was good enough to pick up the SSID and identify the network, but the WiFi (antenna or receiver) was not good enough to sustain streaming. And there was no obvious debugging feedback to sort this out.
I bought one a little over a month ago and can no longer use it because the hdmi connector part has become loose. When it was working i loved it but there is no way to fix it now.
At first I was very impressed by the ease of setup and the performance of my Roku stick, so much so that I purchased a second one. Then I had problems with the clock set up , which I eventually solved after several attempts by Tech Support failed. Now I find that several cable stations on the Time Warner Channel do not load and Time Warner Technicians claim that my TVs have to be Roku compatable - a fact that was not disclosed prior to purchase. Hence my reason for only awarding 4 stars. Other channels seem to stream fairly well, so far.
This is our 5th Roku and by far my favorite. Unlike any other Roku I've bought, everything you need to get streaming is in the box. You don't need an HDMI cable and you don't find a place to put it, it simply hangs out of any open HDMI port. How much easier can you get? I think the only recommendation I have for ROKU, is to store my login info for Amazon, Vudu, Hulu+, and the others on my Roku account, so when I buy a new one, all I should have to do is login to my Roku account and everything else could/should work! That would make owning a Roku totally awesome. Since I'm the account holder, I always get stuck trying to remember all the logins and spending upwards towards an hour, entering it all.
I bought this Roku streaming stick (HDMI Version) a few months ago for my bedroom TV. It worked so well I bought a second one. I have several Samsung DVD/Blu-ray players with apps such as Netflix built in but they are very slow to load programs and movies. The Roku is much quicker and I even think the picture quality is better. If they could figure a way to power this directly from the HDMI connection it would be perfect!
