I bought one of these at release and it has continually disappointed me from always crashing. Out of the box it kept crashing just browsing Netflix or HBOgo on 1080p. It worked okay on 720p for a few months until I can't even turn it on without it crashing.
Big fan of other Roku devices which I own and have had no errors with.
Other than the crashing, my only issue with this is the vampire power. It was designed to always be on whenever the TV is on and it needlessly runs my electricity bill up and hurts the environment. I wish it came with a power button.
i am a ROKU junkie having put one on several personal TVs in two home locations and given them as gifts to our grown children for their family's use. the "sick" is as easy to set up and use as any of the ROKU "boxes" and doesn't require anything additional in the way of tech knowledge. of course it links quickly to your existing account once you enter the code generated by the stick at the ROKU link site on the web.
We went on vacation a few weeks ago. Rented a house at the beach. Took the little Roku with us, plugged in, let it rip. We did not have to rely on local cable programming to satisfy the kids hunger for their shows.
I bought this product primarily because I was tired of hauling my laptop to the television in order to stream. Loading times on videos and between screens are painfully slow when compared to a laptop. The UI is a lot of arrowing around, click select, repeat on next submenu. This remote/UI combination making searching painfully tedious and slow which is a real problem if you wish to explore the library of available content.
Bought 8" hdmi jumper to hook it up< turns out Roku will send you one if stick won't fit your tv. Works great and no need for another box. Its summer and haven't used it a lot but winters coming.
