I bought this to use completely in place of cable. I am very happy with that decision. My only small complaint is the stick is difficult to get in and out in of the small space where the port us located but it still works well.
Since I bought this device I haven't turned on my cable box for about 3 months and plan to drop it completely . I'm finally connected to content that interests me and what I'm willing to pay for.
This being my fourth Roku, and knowing how much punch the similarly priced Roku LT packed, my expectations were relatively high. But the streaming stick ultimately did not deliver on the potential of its predecessors. It's just too slow and too glitchy to recommend. Loading screens for virtually every app would hang for what seemed like eternity. Even changing screens within apps was a chore. When every streaming option offers virtually the same features, give or take a few extra channels, speed should be the number one priority, and this Roku is slow as molasses.
Bought this a while ago and it worked well, but from the beginning I ran into issues with the remote. There would be a delay from the time a button was pressed on it to the time it would work. Sometimes the light on the remote would blink and not work at all until I removed and reinserted the batteries.
Still the remote issue is somewhat intermittent, and it works well otherwise.
One minor complaint is since everything is self contained, if you don't get good wifi right behind the TV (at the HDMI connection) you have to use an extender. An external antenna option would be nice.
