I have cut the cable. I am able to watch a nice selection with Netflix, Amazon and Hulu easily accessible on on device. There are also a few free movie and TV selections.
The Roku itself works well. Sadly, the same can't be said for many of the available channels. Subscription channels are mostly quite good, with the notable exception of Netflix, which is balky and unreliable. The free channels range from pretty good but with limited content to totally useless or virtually unwatchable - movies with such poor resolution they are useless, commercial breaks with only one commercial that repeats over and over. Most seem to never add anything to their selections.
Bottom line - pay-per-view options look good, and are competitively priced, subscription specialty content is great but expensive, and the free options mostly not worth bothering with.
Most of our evening watching is streaming movies and/or tv shows that we cannot get. This product seems to be rock solid and we have had no difficulty with it.
It doesn't work for us..... we even bought a Wifi Booster, and it plays a show a few seconds at a time. Frustrating because I lost my receipt. It's plugged into a TV.
I bought this as this was the only means to watch IPT online .I had google chromecast also and it was way faster than roku and the videos were crystal clear. I found roku hdmi little bit lagging to chromecast on these. If roku had casting ability of browser like chromecast has, it would be gre
I love the ease and app availability of the Roku Stick. It has always work great until I moved into my house. In my bedroom it works fine, but when I moved it to my living room TV, it can't connect to the wireless long enough to maintain a connection. I've researched the error message, I've tried the trouble shooting and rebooted completely, and it still won't work in my living room. Guests have to watch something with me in my bedroom because of this.
