Product only lasted about 60 days. I liked it when it worked but it was constantly stopping and I'd have to restart it. After a couple of months it stopped working at all.
I bought a Roku Streaming Stick because it came with a remote control. Roku is simple to setup and use. No more fuddling aound with my smart phone to search, start, pause, stop a program, etc. The remote fits nicely in the palm of my hand and beats the competition hands-down! Trust me. I tried the competion and it was a chore to use.
This is my 3rd Roku device. I bought the stick because I love not having to see it as it hides behind my TV which is mounted on the wall. However, I prefer when the remote control had the "ok" function in the center (like my other 2 Rokus) instead of below the navigation controls. Also, I would LOVE an HGTV & Food Network channel :)
This one device has simplified access to Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, and Acorn Video! Instead of using multiple remotes , I now just use one! I don't have to connect each time to my WiFi because the Roku stays connected all the time!
We bought one of the standard Roku 2 units several months ago and enjoyed it, but needed one for another TV. We really liked the compact design and have not noticed any functional differences. The TV in question does not have a powered USB port which is unfortunate. The design is super clean without the power cord, but in all, it's a small sacrifice. Looking forward to upgrading the TV so the Roku can disappear.
I purchased this right when this came out. I wanted this to be a Google Chromecast competitor. It does pretty well. I like the compact size and the Roku interface. What I don't like is that it is slow. The interface is slow, loading apps and shows is slow (slower than Chromecast).
I do enjoy having a dedicated remote unlike the Chromecast. Very portable as well. I took it to the hospital last month when my wife and i had our baby and we watched a couple of movies while she recovered.
Price is a tad too high (maybe should retail at around forty), but still reasonable. Speed is my main issue with this device.
I've had the Roku stick for about a month and I only have one negative to say about it. Sometimes it will "freeze" and I have to unplug the stick from the tv and the power source to reset it. I don't know why this happens, if it's the stick or my internet, but it has happened about 7-8 times in the last month. I do love not having another box to plug into the tv, especially now that we wall mounted our flat screen. It is so convenient to just have the small stick plugged into the side of the tv. I have Netflix and Hulu plus and use Pandora all the time. Also it would be very easy to take it to a different tv in a different room if I wanted to.
