I bought this product to be able to access MLB.TV on my HDTV. It does indeed allow this. However, load time for MLB.TV and most every other channel is unbearably slow, and usually interrupted at least once per game or movie or whatever to re-buffer. This is NOT an internet problem; I'm an IT guy by trade for many years, and my internet is as fast and reliable as anything out there. I've even connected a range extender about 3 feet from the Roku and TV. In addition to this issue, the remote takes even longer to "boot", and it is very annoying to have to wait and wait for it to synch with the Roku before being able to use it. And, mot annoying, is when, in the middle of viewing a game or movie, the entire process locks up and I must go into "settings" to "refresh my internet connection", even though the Roku tell me it is "excellent"!
As long as the Roku is my only option to watch MLB.TV on my television, I will suffer through all this. But as soon as another vehicle is available at a reasonable price, I will scrap the Roku.I used to watch Netflix on Roku, but now that Tivo has Netflix available thru it, I no longer need to tolerate the Roku slowness and glitches.
I bought the Roku streaming stick system for my hard to buy for Husband. I can't believe that something so small and simple to install has brought so much entertainment into our lives. We can now watch shows that WE loved as children and when our adult children come to visit we can always find a show that we watched as a family and step back in time, so to speak. The only problem I have is that I need to buy another one for my husband because I have totally taken over this one!
I bought this device as a second, more portable addition to the Roku 3 that I currently have. Both work well with only occasional needs to reboot. This has a couple of features less but amply covers the real reason I got them. Both are addressable by a private app for iPad. That helps whenever typing is involved. Not all hotels support streaming but I was pleasantly surprised to see that a hotel in Pitttsburgh not only allowed me to use it but a technical person made it happen.
I brought a Roku 3 and my daughter wanted it for her room so the Streaming Stick had just come out so I decided to give it a try. It works almost like the Roku 3 except it is a little slower to respond and I am only about 10 feet away from the TV. Overall I am happy with the Streaming Stick. One thing I did discover is the Stick does not save all your account settings if you move it to another TV, once it's loses power you lose all your account settings. It would have been nice is there was someplace to save the settings especially on a trip were I could just plug it in and connect to WiFi and watch Netflix or Amazon Prime.
small !!!! and that is good, work great, just as good as the bigger Roku units, which I also own. the only thing that would of made it better, is if it was a wireless device, would have been worthy of all 5 stars then.
I tried other like Chrome and was very disappointer.
Not so the Roku. SImple, easy to get started and totally fast and complete. I love my Roku and advise anyone that wants easy to use entertainment access to major providers, this is the answer.
