I have both Roku stick and a Roku box not sure of the series. But I find the stick easy to install. I do not like that the power cord has to hang down from the stick this is ugly. Also the remote doesn't always respond like the regular Roku. You can press the controls on the regular one pointing anywhere but with the stick you have to point it more directly at the stick. This is not what I expect from a Roku device. It is easier for traveling though.
The Roku stick is my third Roku device, and even though I have a working Model 2, I decided to buy the new device because of its new search feature. Type in the name of a movie or show and the new menu shows all the services it is available on. The one step backwards, was the absence of a headphone jack on the remote as featured on model 3. I don't know why Roku has to change the remote with every model, makes no sense.
It is a great product as well as the other Rokus ..I got my best friend hooked on it..as well as my god daughter she had to buy another one for when her husband watches tv in tge basement...drop your cable plan I assure you that you will come out cheaper just having internet in your home along with the Netflix subscription..my bill still comes out cheaper that cable..and I got rid of cable almost 7 years ago..
After owning a number of roku products for TVs throughout my home I decided to give the streaming stick a try for a bedroom tv. Given its lack of processing speed it was almost impossible to use. Slow, clunky, freezing between loading apps. I threw mine in the trash out if pure frustration.
I have the original Roku box and keep it in my bedroom. Whenever I wanted to watch Roku in my living room I had to detach it - simple but still a pain to do - so I bought the Streaming Stick ... and I love it! It plugs into the back of my flat screen TV and is unseen by myself and guests to my home -- and there is so much to see! Highly recommended. :)
Overall I really like the device, but sometimes wifi is not fast enough to play without buffering. I also have a Roku3 with hardwire which does not have this issue. However, for a fraction of the price and a few minor issues - it is definitely worth it!
