The small size of the stick (about the size if a flash drive) makes it easy to hide behind the tv, as it plugs directly into an hdmi port. And if the TV has an available usb port, it can be powered from the TV as well, avoiding one more ac plug in the wall. However, when powered by a usb port, it has to boot up each time the TV is turned on. Not a big deal, but I went back to ac power just the same. Does everything you expect from a roku device, in a very small package.
The setup was very easy, we just plugged the stick into our HDMI port and power it using the USB port on the TV. The only reason I didn't give this a 5 star rating was because it takes a little while to boot up when you turn on the TV.
Bought this a few months ago. Just started having streaming problems due to cord coming loose from connection. Not sure why no apparent reason been same position.
This device is to help you watch content over WiFi to you tv, some free content. If you subscribe to Netflix or have a cable network you may watch even more content. Concept is good and easy to use. Well worth the price.
I've been a Roku user for years now. I've always loved that it offered the streaming services that I use, Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, and in recent years, HBOgo. The only thing I don't like about this new streaming stick device is the remote. It doesn't work as well as the roku iPhone app. It seems finicky and I have to point it in the oddest directions to get it to work.
Other things I think I would've liked was choosing what buttons I want on the remote. I don't use blockbuster or mgo. And I'm not a fan of the interface. I'm always scrolling down from the channels page but end up scrolling down to settings (forgetting to scroll right first before scrolling down). It would also be nice to be able to login to my roku account and set up my logins for the streaming providers and have to login once on my roku device rather than having to connect all the providers one at a time. And I like the Amazon Prime interface for the tv shows... When I finish an episode I can click right and it'll go to the next episode; but in netflix, it goes to the next tv show or movie in my cue rather than the next episode. ... But these are minor things, in my opinion.
Not happy with the speed of the entire thing, the ChromeCast seems to be more responsive, just way too much lag. Probably because there is too much content for the specs that this can handle. Keep it simple!
