It not for us

We wanted to be able to watch movies from our Amazon Prime account on our T.V. The movies keep buffering every couple of minutes so we are back to watching them on the computer. We has satellite internet and maybe that is the problem.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I purchased this thinking it would be good for my bedroom and it would be an inexpensive way for me to determine if owning a Roku would really add to my life since I already have TiVo. I figured if I liked it, I would get a Roku 3 for the Den. Well it worked amazingly well in my bedroom so I moved it one afternoon to my Den. This thing is just awesome! I can't imagine what the bigger ones do that it does not. My only complaint is that Netflix is in DD Plus and there is no way to downmix to 5.1. That is true for most players however. So, for now, I watch most Netflix on my TiVo since it downmixes and my older Yamaha receiver doesn't process plus. As for being worth it as an adjunct to TiVo... YES! Get one!

Way to cut the cord. Literally.

Bought this a while ago. Really great for all the streaming media I use. I don't need 500+ channels, I can choose and watch what I need. Space to put the Roku stick at the back was limited. But a few adapters made it simple. Really happy with the purchase. Startup takes up about a minute, which is pretty much the only negative I can say about this.

I really like the device. I like that there isn't any monthly dues. However I would like if I was able to get all channels even though I don't have cable or satellite. That's the only down fall.

does not work with surround sound 5.1 audio.

Audio does not work with surround sound 5.1, only stereo. Every other hdmi device in my house works with 5.1, but not the Roku. Spent an hour on the phone with tech support, tried to tell me my systen was the fault. Works with everything else, jot NOT the Roku, hmmmm.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
