I bought this about 4 months ago and do not like it as much as the regular ROKU which I also have. The problem is the CC comes on automatically for each different show and site. This is really inconvenient. I dont like having to go away from the site I am in to "search". That is loading and then reloading. If I want to search for a program on Netflix, I have to leave the site and then reload just to look up a show. I also like the display on the original ROKU better, i. e. Nexflix - Displays large possible shows to watch and then has my watch list - small, underneath it.
The ROKU is great. Aside from it occasionally slowing down - maybe every two weeks or so, which requires a reboot of sorts by unplugging the power for a few seconds... and I assume this is partly due to excessive use, I think it's far better than what BluRay players have to offer in the way of accessing apps like Netflix, VUDU, etc. I have two of them, and don't regret the purchases in any way.
I am the first person to say it straight...the roku was worth every penny. The remote is wonderful..the channels selections are in abundance. It was so easy to set up. I also purchased the chromecast amd returmed it right back. It sucks!!
I AM NOT a cable cutter, but I still love the ROKU because I still stream movies as my method of renting them. And the ROKU simply gives me so many options to do that, all in one easy device.
