we are on a fixed income and the cost of cable keeps escalating. we live in a rural area, and tried digital antennas, but they worked poorly. when we bought the roku, we were amazed at the number of free channels (we are up to 48 now) all of them are watchable. after a week, we canceled the cable and netflix. we pay for 2 channels, cbs and curiosity stream. weare now saving about 60 per month.
Bought this about a month ago. Speed - smooth sailing, no breaks in service! Super easy to set up. Wires I needed for my smart TV were in the box including the one that I can connect for power direct to TV and not have to use another power plug. Doesn't need to be 'facing' the Roku stick, any click works. Downside would be that (b/c it's hooked up to the TV power directly - I think that is why) it does have to 'load' each time I turn on TV / Roku where as my old one (Roku box version 2 maybe?) would come on right at the show I left it at. Still worth it! I don't like where the play/pause button it, hard to find by feel.
I got this because I didn't have a smart tv and didn't want to have to buy cable since it is so expensive where I live. I love Hulu and Netflix and HBO, but I also like how they have free apps like the History channel I love that one and watch it a lot. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to save money on there cable bill.
I bought this product over a month ago and it's not exactly what I was hoping for--for some reason the remote is on its third set of batteries, and the channels either have a lot of commercials or bad movies-- you have to pay for the good channels after their initial trial-- and even then, there movies are limited-- and of course you have to pay for Internet on top of it-- I would take it back to Walmart but they only have a two week policy and it has to be returned within that window time-- just might go back to renting movies at my local video store or buying movies at the discount stores
I purchased this for our lakehouse where satellite is the only option for TV We have to many trees to get good reseption and I'm not going to cut any down! With that being said the stick works great
Cut the cord and couldnt behappier. The only prob is so far my internet took an increase in price to dip into some of the money I thought would be saving so have to see what is going on with Uverse. I do hate that so many of the channels want you to have a cable provider or pay for the service so we many stick to the ones we currently pay for which are Netflix, Hulu and SLingTV.
