The Roku is awesome and so easy to use. There are issues from time to time but overall we love it. This is actually our family's third Roku! We cut the cord years ago and Roku really helped ease the transition!
I love my other Roku devices so this purchase has been a huge disappointment for me. It is painfully slow to boot. On one Samsung TV the cleanest install requires we power the Roku via the TV's USB port... which means everytime the TV is turned on or off the Roku must reboot. That boot sequence is painfully slow. Once booted the software is buggy. We have had to perform quite a few master resets just to get it to work. Sometimes we get audio with no video. Each problem that we have experienced has been echoed by hundreds of other frustrated owners. Do yourself a favor and search the heck out of this product before you buy it. I have given up using it at home and now only take it on trips when I know the Hotel TV service is so bad that uaing this terrible device is actually an improvement.
I bought this product and its seems like it does not start up properly. I have to unplug it and plug it back in but it takes a while for wireless to connect.
I love the compactness of the streaming stick and the space saving design. The only issues are: 1) it takes awhile to start it up since it relies on the power from the TV. 2) the remote doesn't work unless it is visible from the front. It would have been better to have it work with the IR remote like on the Roku 3.
I thought there were a lot of free movies and programs to watch but you have to pay a monthly fee for a lot of it. Of course you are paying for what you are interested in instead of for everything like with the satellite I cancelled.
A lot of selections you have to have a satellite subscription. I got this to replace my satellite subscription. If I had a satellite subscription why would I need the Roku?
Some series you can watch some seasons free but other seasons you have to pay for. I didn't watch the ones I had to pay for so I don't know if once you pay for them you can watch them again and again.
PBS has one Masterpiece Theatre episode. The next week a new one. The one from the week before is gone and you cannot watch it again.
On the Fox News channel you can't just watch the hour program, you have to watch a segment, then it stops and then goes to another segment that was broadcast for that hour, then another segment for that hour. Not always in the order they were shown in.
I have to put new batteries in the remote each time I use it. I got rechargeable batteries. After an hour or so I have to take the batteries out of the remote and put them back in so it will work. When it was first plugged into my TV it took forever to load itself. Thought it wasn't going to work at all.
Because of these problems I don't watch it much. I am keeping my eye out for something that does what I thought this did. It is advertised to have lots and lots of free stuff to watch. I am not finding that so.
