My husband and I have very different preferences so we each have a Roku. His streams old TV shows and classic movies; mine handles BBC productions and period pieces. Works out nicely for considerably less money than cable/satellite TV.
I had no problem setting up or using this device. It has all the apps I could want especially Acorn TV and Plex. My only minor issue is that it occasionally kicks us out of a program but resume usually works well.
The streaming stick works great for video delivery. I have it plugged into a monoprice hdmi switch which sends video to a projector. I use it mainly to stream Netflix movies, but have found the Youtube feature to be quite cool. You can search and control the Youtube content delivery from your mobile phone, which somehow gets sent to the stick and appears on the screen...very nice! I also like the fact that it is small and doesn't require cables in and out, just plug directly into an hdmi port. My one beef is I do no think the stick outputs 5.1 channel audio, although this could be an issue with my hdmi switch. I know the hdmi switch pulls 5.1 audio out of other input signals, and sends it to my pre-amp, so I am assuming the stick is not providing the 5.1 audio...but again, I could be wrong. All in all very convenient for video streaming in my system.
This stick kicks butt will never have to buy a "smart tv" agin this works better than any smart tv I have ever owned. I do wish that one of the apps that you could buy was the Longhorn Network thought. This stick is way easy to use and I think works a lot better then the Apple TV. I took my Apple TV back and bought one of these then went back a few days later and bought a second and still didn't spend as much as the Apple TV cost. Way better product for the money.
I have had problems with continual operation of the tv the Roku Stick is attached to. When I was able to get it to work, it was necessary that I reassigned each network to that tv...a real pain. I cannot use the stick now. The Roku Box is MUCH better.
