I love my Roku Streaming Stick! Am technically challenged but this was so easy. Just plugged it in my HTML port on the TV, tied it into my accounts and was ready to go. One less box on my entertainment center and no more wires.
Just a note and this doesn't take away from my rating--I did not realize that it does require a power source. But no big deal. I chose not to use USB connection on TV for power. Plugged into power strip using included cord.
I bought this a few months ago because my Blu-ray player kept dropping the signal from my Wi-Fi, and it had so many channels, and the price was right. Ever since I plugged it in I have not had any major problems. I think I've had to "reboot" it maybe twice in 3 months, where I just unplug it, plug it back in and it streams quickly and easily. Fast response, very little lag if any, and almost never drops the signal. Great buy for me.
This seemed like a fun toy so I bought it. It installed easily and is a convenient way to put movies, kids entertainment, and extra channels on my HDTV. We enjoy watching whole seasons of shows like Doc Martin and so on at our convenience. It works well with my Amazon Prime account so is economical as well.
Purchased the Stick to compliment our family's suite of Apple TVs and to try the more economical, more streamlined Stick. First impression was good, because its cheap, has great content, is easy to use, but after a few weeks of use, i would not recommend. After being plugged in for a few days, the Stick becomes very hot, and the menu system becomes sluggish and often locks up... which makes the kids angry when they can't get to Elmo. The general fix is to unplug from the power source long enough for it to cool down then it goes back to normal, and only plug it in when you want to use- which is not convenient. Apparently it never enters a sleep mode or something like that when not use, but plugged in.
I bought this a month ago and i'm pleased with it. now instead of watching netflix on a tiny screen, i can watch it on my huge flat screen. However, I expected it to have more channels then it did- some of the channels in which my shows air are not available on roku.
