Setup in no time. Droid app is easy to use. Our complaint is the limited interface to Netflix. No category search, no favorites, hard to use. We're returning because of that.
I purchased my first Roku box 2-3 years ago. I loved it so much that I thought I would add a second device, not a Roku, that just didn't live up to my expectations after owning the Roku. When I moved, I wanted to replace that "other" device and discovered the Roku stick. I'm so glad that I did! It couldn't have been simpler to install. The only quirks that I've experienced are that it seems to reboot once every couple of weeks or so causing me to have to log-in again with my username and password. Even at that, I love the freedom of no wires to connect. Buy one, you'll be glad you did!
It takes some time for it to initialize; I make sure to turn on the TV way before I am ready to use the roku. The remote app on iphone is excellent, and the general performance (video, audio, response time) are all very good. Occasionally, internet connection is lost -- this usually happens during changing channels, etc. But it never happened during a chosen program / movie.
This is a great value and was super easy to install. It seems to delivery a high quality HD signal when available. I'm disappointed there is not a STARZPlay widget for ROKU yet. Netflix has been reliable, but Amazon hasn't. I've had to unplug and restart this several times already, when my last ROKU went two years with no issues whatsever. The universal search is nice feature. But it's just not quite stable enough to get five stars.
So far So good. Before buying this product I interviewed people who owned or had tried both Roku and cable to get the pros and cons of having such a device. Afterwards we gave it a try. It meets our needs minus a monthly triple digit cable bill..
Let me say this first. Roku in itself is the greatest. I do not have cable nor will I ever as long as I have my Roku. Now on to the reveiw. I received the Roku Streaming Stick as a gift a while ago. I have had one of the original Roku boxes for years and love it. This one on the other hand is a different ball game. It freezes. It's not constant but definitely a nuisance because it will do it whenever it wants (it worked fine for a few months and then it started). It has some upgraded features that my older Roku does not have, but honestly I prefer my original. Overall it works slower and I have more issues with it than I ever have had with my original. My adivse, don't bother with this guy and spend the extra $10-20 bucks for the box. You won't be disappointed that route.
