Sometimes the remote don't work and it gets stuck, but overall it's a great product. It have every app you could dream of. I'm constantly finding things that I like
Easy to set up and use. Any problems are due to the fact that I have not subscribed to anything so my choices are limited. I love watching music videos and if nothing else this is worth the price.
I bought this for summer use on a deck, and decided to take it on a trip to Hawaii. I could not get it to hook up to the hotel's high speed internet. I think it was more my error than the device though. I was however able to screen mirror from my tablet to the device without issue. Next time I use it on a trip I will pay a little closer attention to install, and I should have no problems. I would recommend a software upgrade that would allow a user to delete an internet connection to start over again.
the remote sync'd up one time and never worked again , cheap don't waste your money. nothing is free you still have to pay for all the movie channels and networks
I was tired of being raked through the coals by cable and satellite television. So I cut the cord and purchased a Roku Stick. I was already paying for my subscription sites like Netflix and Amazon Prime and with the Roku Stick, I was able to access all of them. There are additional applications as well that are useful such as online radio and listening. Another really amazing feature is that you can mirror cast any application from just about any portable device. This allows you to also play your entire media library on your television.
There are couple minor downsides to the device, though. First, the remote control that it comes with and that is an integral part of the operation, often loses connectivity and becomes unresponsive. While the major subscription apps are great, some of the station apps (like History Channel, Travel Channel, ESPN) require that you log in using your cable provider. This is not as much the fault of Roku but the provider. I was just rather taken aback. I was hoping to be able to watch some of my favorites online but they don't even offer a subscriber option (like Fox and CBS do).
Keep in mind that the Roku Stick is purely WiFi connected. So make sure that you're close enough to the source. The good part about this is that if you have an HDMI connection, you can use the Roku Stick. Very awesome for those who travel and want to watch their favorite programing in a hotel without having to set up your laptop!
Overall, this is a great product and has replaced cable as my entertainment choice. I pay slightly less (after subscriptions) but there's not pesky box rental fees or connection fees or any of those other add-on fees that cable and satellite throw on. Instead, I get for the entertainment that I pay for and have greater control over my programming.
We actually started with our first one a year ago and we love it so much we bought a second one! Its so easy to use and move to different TVs my three year old can work Netflix on the remote. Absolutely love my roku! It has saved us so much money! What a great invention. I think everyone should have one!
