We purchased our Roku Streaming Stick after seeing it in action at my son and daughter-in-law's house. We had been using the younger kids' video unit cast-offs to access Netflix, etc., but kept getting frustrated with the inconsistency and unreliability of operation. We have had NO issues with the Roku Stick, and plan on purchasing one for the kids' TV room, as well. Simply, user friendly, unobtrusive..., compatible with iPhone. We love it!
I bought one a couple of month's ago, and I have really liked it. It has all the channels I like to watch, plus so many more. I don't have cable, and find that I am just fine with only my ROKU
I love my Roku! It's so great to be able to see the shows I want to see WHEN I want to see them. The only complaints I have is that sometimes it takes too long for a show to get from the network to the Roku. (You might have to wait a month for some shows.) Also, sometimes the Roku loads the channel or show slowly. Overall, Roku is a MUCH better deal for the money than cable!
I bought 3 of them for all my tv sets and now two of them are no longer working. They worked just fine before we started using the sticks but after a month or so the tv sets would not come on anymore.
I first bought a Roku two years ago and am so addicted to their services I upgraded to the faster Streaming Stick earlier this year. I like the stick because it was an affordable upgrade to stream 1080p, fits descretly behind the TV in a HDMI port and uses less space than a set top box. I especially love the wireless remote as I do not need line-of-sight to control the Stick interface. My only complaint is that the wireless signal is lost sometimes and you have to reboot the stick to reconnect the remote, and now and then Netflix freezes up when started but otherwise and excellent product. NOTE: to get Dolby Digital Plus sound through a sound system you have to connect the device directly to a HDMI port in your receiver; Plus will not work using a digital pass-through. Roku offers a much, MUCH wider selection of channels over any other streaming device on the market. Period. Great investment!
I love my streaming stick. I travel with it and use just about every day. However, it is under powered when put against the newer apps like Netflix and Youtube. It is at time sluggish. That being said it is still a fantastic device and I would recommend anyone get one that travels or for a secondary TV in the house. On the main tv I would get the Roku 2 or Roku 3.
I purchased the Streaming Stick in an effort to replace our cable service. But the problem is we found that we cannot count on the Roku working all of the time. Some times it works great other times not at all.
I bought the stick 5 months ago. The first 2 months were amazing. I thought Roku was the best invention ever. Right now I can't use it anymore. It has serious problems to connect to the network. I tried everything. One day it works perfectly and next day it doesn't connect to network. It's so annoying I gave up trying.
