We have had this product for a month and it works pretty well. The biggest complaint is that it cannot retain a memory of me when it resets. I have to visit the website, re-register, etc. This wouldn't be bad if it happened say once/year, but this is 3rd time in a month
Sometimes the remote freezes and will not work. I have to unplug Roky stick from power and restart it. I could use phone app, but that seems dumb to me when I have remote control for the device that should work.
We have 2, Roku Streaming Sticks and on many occasions the stick will lock up. Meaning they will fail to function. They get very warm to the touch and my experience with electronics is, if it's getting hot it's usually not far off from failing, which these sticks do. to frequently I think.
Bought a few of these for my sisters kids both there rooms are upstairs and would not connect when I first installed them. I had to take them out and install and update them on a downstairs TV they worked for a week or so and then suddenly quit connecting and needed to be re-updated downstairs again!
I ditched the satellite & was using a Xbox of my son's but wanted my own streaming device. I had already bought one for my daughter, she seemed to really enjoy it, so we bought one for ourselves. Very happy with it. Plugs right into a HDMI so takes up no room.
My expectation was higher after hearing how great Roku is from my friends. My goal was to cut the cord with cable/satellite and mirror content from my PC and phone. Sadly Roku failed on all counts. I can get some movies and TV shows through Hulu and NetFlix but there is no live news and sports. Also, I cannot mirror content from my PC or phone live. I can play back some videos, pictures and music from my phone but it isn't streaming. The only reason I didn't give it a 1 star is because it is fair when compared to other similar products. Yes a HDMI stick is nice and slim but it does not come with an extension or angle port. My flat screen is wall mounted but the HDMI port is horizontal. No room between the wall and the TV to plug this in. Also, yes Roku has a ton of channels but they are only good if you're interested in them, which I'm not. Again, strange when there are 1000's of channels but none of offer live News or Sports. I had a higher expectation and it failed to meet it. Therefore, I give a fair rating since really it is nothing different than me buy a blu-ray player or a new TV that streams. Another thing, the controller to typing is horrible. It isn't any different than other devices but seriously why hasn't anyone improved the experience all these years.
