Great Device, with A Lot of Potential

I know it's only a streaming stick, but I have problems with how long the stick takes to boot up, render a newly started video, and load the applications.
All the essentials are great about this, it's just lacking in hardware in my opinion. I wouldn't recommend this to a friend. Would most likely suggest an Apple TV, or one of the full-version Rokus.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Opens the door to a world of entertainment

My Roku stick is so much easier and economical than cable. A one-time purchase, a subscription fee here and there as I choose, and a world of HD movies and TV is mine, much of it content that I could get no where else. And it's all trouble-free.

Great product except for one thing

It was really easy to set up, and with a good wireless connection it "just works". Something happened in the last month or two where nothing would work. It is currently installed on a TV over my main computer which also has been experiencing bad WiFi connections. Not sure what changed, but this location is now problematic. That isn't the Roku's fault, and I've since fixed it, but the annoying thing as I was rewiring the ethernet connection and installing WiFi extenders and bring ancient routers out of retirement is that it only seems to be able to remember one WiFi connection at a time. For a WiFi only device that is quite portable, that seems like a limitation. Setting up a connection isn't hard, but when you often change the access point where it is connecting (admittedly not a frequent thing), having to re-enter the connection info depending on where you are gets to be quite annoying.
Other than that, the apps install really easily and with a good connection they all have worked as advertised. The menu navigation makes sense and works flawlessly.
I would recommend this to a friend!

There are so many channels you can add for free.Once you have the channels they describe to you how each service works and how much.It also has you tube for searching topic you would be interested in.In the intai set uo i had a problem and the technical support was great and patient,The problem was the extension i was using was not working and I plugged into a different place at the tech advise.Every tv show you can every think of is on one of the channels.There is also religious programming available from very well known sources.Just look it up on the roku search engine.

I'm generally happy with the purchase, though I have a few comments:
1/ It can take a while to boot up when switching on TV - it does not immediately go to menu
2/ It periodically logs me out of Netflix, which is a pain to remember sign on & password
3/ It can be slow, going into Netflix / Amazon / Hulu
