I bought this about two months ago.. I work a lot so I dont watch too much television. When I do watch tv.. its nice that everything is on demand. Only drawback is that there are times when it takes awhile to pick up a connection with my internet.. I get annoyed of how long it takes that I switch to my ps3 which has no problems at all connecting. Its nice that I have subscription to netflix and amazon so I have access to countless movies. This device is very good.. im in the process of picking up another one for another tv..

simple, small and powerfull

the initial setup is very simple - both 2.4 and 5Ghz wi-fi support.

The only down side of this tiny stick is that you need a powerful router / ap otherwise the device will drop network connectivity. I had to get netgear R7000 with external antenas for this device to stay connected.
Plays 720 and 1080P shows and movies smoothly -- great value for the money.

I can't play videos on my phone

Very happy with it overall! I use it for a bedroom in out vacation house. We aren't there all the time so I hate to pay for cable that isn't being used so this is a great alternative!

Many issues

After 6 months, I am very unhappy with the "stick." Throughout an evening, it frequently loses the signal and ROKU has to reprogram. Repeatedly, it totally deletes my Netflix access information and I have to sign on - a real pain. I have one of the original ROKU devices for 6 years now. It never loses the signal and, for this device, I signed onto Netflix only once - 6 years ago. I will be buying another device to replace the ROKU stick.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good for movies and TV shows

The quality of the streaming programs is great. The ease of use is great. We are unhappy with trying to looks at local news or national news. For NBC News, it is hard to discern one day's new from the next. We looked at WRAL Raleigh news, and discovered it was from June 2014 (it is currently Aug 30th, 2014). We were also disappointment there is no NFL access. Having said all that negative about trying to watch news, ALL THE TV AND MOVIE CHOICES ARE FABULOUS!

had this for 90 days. worked great up until the 90 day warranty expired. i finally found the reset button on the remote that is not mentioned at all in the user manual. now it works but there is a significant delay after pressing a button and getting a response.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

So many choices and great video quality! I found out quite by accident that YouTube videos viewed on my Nexus 7 tablet can be cast to an HDMI TV through the Roku, very cool to see to see my own videos in full HD on my big screen TV. I particularly like the Roku search. Look for a show by name, actor, etc., and it shows where it is available. So far it has never come up empty. One of the many, many channels available is Pandora. I was aware that it has been around for a long time, but had never tried it out. Now it is one of my favorites. I find it far superior to the Music Choice channels from the cable provider.
The only negative is that it is necessary to juggle 3 remotes to switch among Roku and the other TV inputs, partly because there is no volume control on the Roku remote. My guess is that capability would increase the price significantly.
