I bought the Roku Streaming Stick sometime last month and I have really enjoyed it. I haven't had any problems with it freezing while watching shows. It's easy to use and it's out of the way. You just plug into the HDMI spot on the back of the TV and the rest is a snap. I like that it doesn't have all the cables and cords that some other players have. I love that it works great without all the clutter!
I bought this since my ethernet on my Blue Ray player quit. Compact, easy to use and I love the app for Android! Out of sight and works as advertised. Recommended!
I like roku but I free channel it don,'t give to how to free or I don't understanding how to work .could you send me something to show get free channel .thank you.
Good idea for a compact player but for me to plug it into my Vizo I would need to cut a hole in the wall. My suggestion would be a short hdmi cable or a swivel head. It works great, just like my other roku and is half the size and I like how it can be powered off the tvs USB port.
I pre-ordered the Roku Stick after already using the Roku 3 for a few months. I loved the R3 and we have a small flat screen mounted in our bedroom and thought the Stick would be great and not take up any dresser space and we wouldn't need to run any cables. After receiving it and using it for several months, here is what I think:
There are only a few negatives to the Roku Stick. The biggest smallest about this very small streaming stick is boot up speed. The Roku 3 turns on and is ready to go after only a few seconds. The Stick takes a minute or more to turn on. Now I say turn on because it gets it's power from the USB port in the tv. So every time we turn on the tv and the Stick it has to reboot. The R3 is always on, but if the power goes out or it needs reset, it only takes a few seconds to reboot.
The other negative is the inability to download new apps. Now this isn't that big of an issue because we mainly use the big name apps that come preloaded. On our main tv it was nice downloading apps like pandora, I heart radio, Tune In, Allrecipes, and even a fireplace app. Since we only watch a little tv in bed, this isn't a problem.
As mentioned above, this gets power from a USB port. If your tv doesn't have a USB port, it comes with an AC adapter but that means running a cable. But I also suppose that would limit the reboot time if is getting constant power.
All in all I really like the Roku Stick. I would plan on buying more of these if I had more TVs. If I decide to put a tv in our basement, this is what I would get.
