Got this for Fathers Day and have enjoyed using it to play music and play entertainment videos and educational videos as well as watching some of my favorite YouTube channels.
The streaming stick is not as responsive as the Roku2. The size is convenient, but it has to be fairly close to the wi-fi. I had to trade places with the stick and roku2.
I was looking to replace my original Roku which was one of the original and the versatility of this stick really appealed to me. I got it in August and used it on the TV at the beach and since have used it on 2 TV's at home and plane to take it on vacation in early October. Its really simple to use, most TV' have an HDMI plug and a USB plug so plug it in, pick up the Wifi and go.
This was the second Roku unit we bought, the first being a Roku 3. Basically, there is no difference between Roku 2 and Roku 3 except cost. Yes, initially the Roku 2 is a bit slower in the downloading department, but it does a good job of streaming.
Very easy to set up and use. Like the XS, it took about 10 minutes to be up and streaming.
One disappointment though was it did not have "Angry Birds" installed. I purchased "Angry Birds HD" for my XS hoping that it would also be added to my channel list on the Streaming Stick. No such luck. In fact it not even offered in the channel store, even though there are other games for sale.
Overall, it's a good product and I'm satisfied with it.
We bought the stick for an HD tv after using the Roku 2 for an older TV in our basement. It is great only having the stick to plug into the TV. It also is helpful that the power connection to the HDMI port is the same as with many sell phones/USB power adapters - our son broke our original Roku power source and we were able to easily replace it.
I bought this as an alternative to television, but so much of the programming requires that you need to have a cable contract to have access to useful channels, or at least borrow your friend's passwords.
