I have the Roku 3 in my main TV room and thought a Streaming Stick would be great for my bedroom TV. It's terrible. It only works about .125% of the time and we have passed our timeline for returning. At this point we'll throw the stick in the trash and buy another Roku 3.
Having used other Google TV gadgets I find this device easy to use and it simply works great! The drawback of typing by selecting letters turned me off initially but the App has a keyboard feature that gets around that.
We had streamed via Wii, then purchased an xBox. Found out we couldn't access our movie account without an xBox Live account. Plugging and unplugging systems was a pain. Now, with just 1 click we are on our Roku account and love it!!!
The streaming stick works well, but has minor flaws. For instance, there isn't a way to turn it off. Secondly, sometimes it freezes without warning and has to be reset. From what I've gathered, the only way to do this is to unplug the power, and then plug it back in.
I started with the Roku3 for the living room and after trying it out for a while decided to get a device for the bedroom. That's when the Stick became available and it seemed to be a great fit since I didn't want a device in the bedroom. Feature wise, it's has everything the 3 has. My one complaint is that at times the Stick simply hangs/locks up and the only way to "reboot" it is to remove the power to it. Can be somewhat annoying since the TV is mounted high on a wall above a dresser. The Roku3 does hang as well, but is more accessible to remove the power to it. Would be nice if the 3 had a power switch.
This is a wonderful device. Lots of channels to choose from and a lot of them are free. There's also a lot of them that charge a monthly fee. If it were up to me, I would've cancelled cable t.v. long ago. Alas my fiance needs her most recent Housewives...so for now, cable stays.
