Bought 4 streaming sticks about 4 months ago. They work well with Netflix and Hulu which can help cut your entertainment bill. On the down side the selection and quality of the free channels is not that great. Occasionally I have to reset my connections even when the settings screen says the connection is excellent. That can be a pain because then your re-inputting passwords. Not fun. Overall I have to say it is a good alternative to cable.
I PURCHSED A ROKU BECAUSE OF AN ARTICLE REVIEWING ROKU AND SEVERAL SIMILAR DEVICES IN THE DALLAS NEWS PAPER SAID THAT WITH ONE I COLULD WATCH MOVIES, OLD TV SERIES, AND A HOST OF OTHER THINGS I HAD BEEN WATCHING ON MY TABLET ON MY BIG SCREEN TV. WELL IT WORKS REALLY WELL AND IS EASY TO SET UP.
I bought this over the internet and it is easy to plug into the TV, but I have not been able to get the sound to play through my speakers. The instructions give no help. I am stuck with playing through my TV speakers and not happy!
I really like my Roku streaming stick. The only downside is... I have been having a lot of problems with the remote not working. It beats paying high cable costs though, so its worth putting up with the temperamental remote.
I have had this for about 6 months. Very aggravating piece of equipment. It cannot seem to hold a connection for longer than 5-10min without dropping signal and then having to wait about 3min for it to reacquire. The remote seems to have the same issue. It does not seem to stay connected to the stick. Their are no indications of this, you just have to keep pressing buttons until it decides to connect again. When it works, it is great. However I spend more time troubleshooting a connection than actually watching content.
