My husband has enjoyed the movies on Roku. But I wish they had more 5 year old TV shows. Otherwise it has been nice to have. I might join Hula. Just haven't decided yet.
This is the best entertainment value out there -do yourself a favor and get one-we cut the cable and trashed the satellite dish--(saving--$100 plus a month) we now watch more and better--and best of all WE choose!
I bought this a few months back because it was affordable and I wanted a Roku. The options you get with Roku far surpass every streaming box out there. The ONLY thing I suggest is that you get a HDMI extender cable for this. Due to the weight of the stick and the heat produced from it being left on, as there is no way to turn it off without unplugging it, it causes the stick port to bend. Let go long enough I could see the port breaking away from the stick and having to purchase another one. If you want to save yourself from buying another in the long run order an HDMI extender cable when you purchase this. Other than that it's an overall good product.
Great for streaming movies and media, but for some unknown reason I've had to change out the batteries in the remote. They keep going dead after a couple of days. These are brand new batteries. Solved it by leaving one of the batteries out of the remote. But it shouldn't be this way.
I got this product to go with my new flat-screen 42" HDTV. I am basically pleased with it but there are a few issues, none a deal-killer, but anyone getting this needs to know. From time to time it freezes up and I have to cold-reboot it by unplugging the USB connection and plugging it right back in. YouTube hoses it up at the moment, and I am disappointed in this, as I like to be able to watch videos on a "real" TV. That's just started happening the past week or so. I like to stream WRC NBC4 news from Washington and sometimes it freezes up or bombs me out altogether. That may be due to the quality of the video stream. Nowhere TV has quirks of its own that may not be solvable by Roku. The selection on Nowhere TV is not what it could be. Getting used to CNN with British commercials is a small price to pay for not getting cable or a dish (both cost $$$). France 24 and Sky News are flawless. The Netflix experience is tip-top. I do lose my broadband connection (50GB) from time to time, not sure what's up with that. And could someone bring back Mummy Box... please... ???
