I bought the streaming stick about a month ago. It was very easy to install and works great except for one thing. There are several live streaming shows that constantly buffer/load every 2 or 3 minutes throughout the entire 2 hour program. I can get the same programs without interruption on my computer but want to watch them on my television. I have not been able to get a good resolution from anyone including Roku. I don't know if I need faster internet (I currently have DSL from Centurylink), if my router needs to be closer to the Roku or what. As soon as I can figure out what is causing this problem and correct it, it will get 5 stars. The old movie/television shows do not buffer at all. The live streaming shows that are archived also buffer/load just as they do while live streaming. Television shows also do not buffer at all.
I'm not tech savvy, but after a friend set my ss up I am able to use it to watch any program I choose. So easy and the only way can see my British shows.
After 4 solid months of use, I have to knock my original 5-star rating down to 3 stars. Because the Roku stick isn't reliable. Recently it's started to disconnect in the middle of playing a TV show or if I'm trying to rewind or fast-forward. Doesn't matter if I'm using the USB port or have it plugged into a socket. It's not the WiFi connection because all my other devices stay connected uninterrupted. I guess heavy use everyday is too much for it. Other than that, which is a huge thing, the channels it offers are great. Ability to customize subtitles is great. Haven't tried it out on the road, but it isn't built for heavy daily use.
My Roku stick works off my home Wi-Fi. There are lots of free channels with everything from cartoons to movies. I unplug it when not in use to save electric and bandwidth. I loved the stick so well that I bought 3 more Roku LT's so that my daughter could use it on her older TV's and get rid of her cable bills too. We are using the savings to pay for Grace's Dance classes and costumes. I have already saved enough to pay for new bikes for five of my Teen and Tween grandchildren.
I am very happy as to the ease of operation and valuable content especially of the JW Broadcasting tab. Also enjoy Neflix and Amazon for variety of movies.
The Roku Stick was installed on my 2009 Samsung 32" hd tv and it works exactly as advertised. The high definition is excellent. Access to our Netflix and Hulu+ accounts is easy. I almost purchased the Roku box, decided to save a few dollars and did not need the headphone jack, and am glad I purchased the Stick. The installation was simple. I use the provided remote for searching and selecting and it works fine. My highest compliment: I ordered a second one for the tv in my bedroom.
