I purchased this for my home TV and it was so easy I ordered another one for my other TV, it was very easy to put on my account. I have never been so thrilled with a electronic purchase, as most of the time you have to be an electronic guru to get things to work. Not so with the Roku Stick. Just plug it into a HDMI port, and let it do its thing
I have had the Roku stick for about 3 months. I like the app features it offers. But it takes a while to come on, I wish it had a quicker response. I turn on my tv I have to wait about 3-5 mins for the roku sign to stop bouncing. I even try to change it in the settings to not have any wait time... Did not work. I also have problems with the remote sometimes it will not connect. I have two roku, and the problems is on both of them. Overall it works fine. Cause I only use it before I go to bed.
The streaming stick is relatively long so if your HDMI slot faces to the back of the TV and not downwards, the stick can occupy at least 3 inches in the back of the TV. This will place the TV further away from the wall in a wall-mounted system and may even be incompatible with some shallow wall mounts. You may need an HDMI male to female extension (preferably short) to solve the problem.
This thing is awesome! We want one for every tv...thinking about getting rid of cable! Would be nice if the roku remote could control the volume as well, still a great thing to have, my children love it
So I own a stick and the 3. The box is way better than the stick. The stick goes behind the TV, essentially blocking your WiFi signal. I've owned it since the summer and it won't even work without the purple screen coming on. I've reset it a million times and within a couple of minutes the purple screen comes on. Long story short buy the box it works great! The stick is in a drawer collecting dust.
Really wanted to like it but feels like a cheap version of something else. Why? I wish I could say a thing or two but I have a laundry list of things why I think that. If you want Netflix and Hulu, it'll work great but, if you want something more, good luck!
I bought this about 3 weeks ago and it turned my dumb HDTV into a versatile viewer. I have Xfinity Internet and the wireless connection works flawlessly. I also like the portability aspect since it just plugs into the extra HDMI port along with the small power USB to a regular outlet. I received several offers from affiliates like MGo and VUDU which increase its versatility. There are other features which I've not yet fully explored like channel customization on the dashboard but the remote that comes with the stick makes this easy to explore. I also downloaded the Roku app to my android phone -- my phone now can function like an extra remote. Thanks Roku!
