I am a widow on disability and can only afford basic cable. The Roku has given me the opportunity to see programs that I would not be able to see. I love my Roku.
Honestly, I was a bit skeptical when I first heard of Roku. Can there really be that many channels? Yes, minus your regular channels that you need a subscription for already eg Netflix/Huluplus/etc., there are TONS of free channels, and also a huge list of private channels that aren't listed through the Roku that you can get online. Completely replaces my television. You can even "screen mirror" from your computer/laptop/tablet and it will show what your doing on that device on your tv. You can sync up your pc/tablet/etc. with your Roku device so you can stream your own music, pictures, and videos to the TV. Get the Roku app for your tablet, and you can turn your tablet INTO A REMOTE. Could help if you lost your remote, and also for things you need to type with the keyboard rather than have to choose the letters with your regular remote. I could not be happier than I am with this device. Have even recommended it to a couple friends who have also made the switch.
I'm not very computer savy so when I saw your demonstration on the HSN network it looked pretty user friendly. Then when I got it to set up I have to give up a lot of information. I wasn't sure of how to even rent or log on to view a movie. why too many things to do
This was my Christmas gift to me and I love it. As a busy mom I could never watch my shows when it aired and Hulu saved me but then watching on my iPad became a hassle, this mom wanted to relax and watch, well along came this little number and made everything BIG...LOL. I love it, and so does my neck and back. Loading is quick and steaming is clear. Kicking myself for not getting it sooner. Being in the USVI, I don't get access to many of the Roku channels but I do get all the major ones so I'm happy.
